Ventura-based dance artists Beth Megill and Stephanie Liapis are joining together for the first time to showcase a collection of movement stories that is sure to delight. Featuring new works by both Megill and Liapis, the program promises a playful blend of movement styles ranging from reflective to quirky. New works include Megill & Company’s "Bounce," set to an original music score by UK artist Paul A Jackson, and Liapis’ feminist, contemplative solo "Under the Shadow of Trees." The program will also include the California premiere of "The Building of a Sphere" by Liapis, which explores the nature of embodied silence. Additional new works include a meditative solo created and performed by Megill called "Apron Dances" and a rhythmically driving acapella work called "pat-tap-pat-tap-pat-tap-Play." The show is sprinkled with poetry by local artists and lighting design by Richard Hellstern to complete the program.

Known locally for its use of both elegance and humor, Megill & Company is pleased to welcome Liapis to the LA dance community from her East Coast career. Liapis performed and taught extensively for Doug Varone and Dancers and has since grown her own artistic practice, highlighting a compositional sensitivity for line, quality, and texture in works that are patient and sensory. Together, Megill & Liapis offer a rich array of movement ideas and compositional structures rooted in modern, post-modern, and jazz dance ideals.

"Assemblings" is a 90-minute program offering innovative and compelling dances entertaining for all ages. Audience members under 12 get in for free! Please reserve your youth ticket by emailing Beth Megill at For more information about the artists or the event, please direct questions to Stephanie Liapis at
